Illustrative cumulative fixed deposit estimate using quarterly compounding. Taxes, TDS, day-count conventions and premature-withdrawal adjustments are excluded. Actual bank payouts can differ.
What this estimate shows
The result separates the original deposit from the estimated interest and shows the combined maturity amount.
How the calculation works
The calculator compounds the entered annual interest rate quarterly for the selected number of years.
Before you rely on the result
Bank methods can differ by tenure, day-count convention and payout option. The estimate excludes tax, TDS and premature-withdrawal penalties.
Common questions
Is quarterly compounding used?
Yes. This tool models a cumulative deposit compounded four times a year.
Does it deduct TDS?
No. Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and current rules.
Can I use it for a monthly-interest FD?
No. A payout deposit follows a different cash-flow pattern from this cumulative estimate.
Formula, assumptions and example
Formula: A = P × (1 + r ÷ 4)^(4t), where P is the deposit, r is the annual interest rate and t is the tenure in years. The tool models a cumulative FD with quarterly compounding.
Worked example: ₹1 lakh deposited for 5 years at 7% a year grows to about ₹1.41 lakh before tax. Estimated interest is about ₹41,478.
- The entered rate stays constant for the full tenure.
- The estimate excludes income tax, TDS and premature-withdrawal penalties.
- Actual bank calculations may use different tenure or day-count rules.
